Which cover should Ruby go for this time?

As The New Author project approaches completion, it's time to choose the kindle / paperback cover.

This book is a beginner’s guide on how to write a novel, publish as an independent ebook author and promote your brand using social networks.

Which of the following six covers A - F catches your eye and best conveys the book's contents? Please let me know your thoughts ;-]
Cheers

  1. The text placing can change and the tagline on A could be added to any of the others...

  2. All great covers, Ruby. For me, B, E, F, than C.

  3. I like F best with its different stretches of coloured roads. It's seems to offer a solution to the problems new authors face; which way to go?

  4. I like C the best. To me, it has a more creative feel while the others kind of remind me of the text books I had to buy for English classes. My second favorite is A.

  5. The votes are in. Blog, Twitter, facebook and email. B has it by a long mile, 11 out of 23 votes. C has 4 votes and A, D, E tied on 3, F with 2. But I like A! Oh well, B it is then.

  6. Bummer, I missed the vote? After just one day? That wasn't a very long polling, was it? And I would've voted for C which apparently only those of us here on your blog liked? As I said, bummer!

I think the other 5 are all either too cluttered, too gimmicky or trying too hard to look like a text book instead of just a book. I think C is good because it visually (and therefore instantly) connects the reader to the green Android image/icon/avatar even though it's not a Droid icon at all. It totally taps into the so-called "trade dress" of Droid with the color and concept. I guess that's an argument against given you don't need to be sued but I think of it as an argument for since you're tapping into an existing market with a new twist.

  7. Oh and the simplicity (abundance of white space) of C coupled with the font selections/placement kept the focus of the design visually on the word AUTHOR and then your name.

  8. I really like "C" Ruby. It's clean and elegant :)

  9. Hey Webbie, Emmie and Amethyst.

I've decided to go for A for the ebook with the title text of B, and B for the paperback. B looks classy but A conveys what I want to say with the book. That gives me the option of switching to B for the ebook cover if and when.

    Many thanks to all!
